Hello, and welcome. It is likely you have been searching for something, a safe place to think and talk, to try to understand what you are feeling or facing. You know that everyone has troubles. Problems with spouses or partners, with friends, or with parenting. Conflicts at work or school. You know we lose people we love, we don’t always get what we want, and that things sometimes don’t work out. You may be worrying about yourself, wondering whether you are the problem. Some troubles we just can’t seem to figure out on our own. It is fine to ask for help. Psychotherapy gives you that safe place to understand your troubles with someone who is objective, skilled, and in your corner.
Areas of treatment expertise include:
- depression, anxiety, restlessness and boredom
- difficulty managing strong feelings
- nagging feelings of guilt and doubt
- fears of being close to others, or of being alone
- hesitation to speak up, trouble knowing or holding to your limits
- feeling like an imposter in the face of success, or fear of failing that keeps you stuck
- worries and conflicts in your most important relationships
The search for understanding oneself through psychotherapy is unique to each person. Together we will take time to discover and explore what influences your beliefs and your responses. We will look for patterns in your relationships, in your thinking and in your actions, so that we may better understand how your past continues to live on in the present. This careful attention to your inner world can lead to feelings of greater resilience and calm, to more effective coping skills, and to lasting change.
I have been a therapist for over 35 years, working with adults, individually and in couples. How often we meet and the length of treatment is a part of our ongoing discussion, though I typically see people once or twice a week for a longer-term depth psychotherapy. My goal is to help you recognize and solve the problems that keep you from getting what you want in your life. I believe each of us has, within ourselves, the ability to heal and resolve even long-standing problems, leading to the development of greater meaning and fulfillment in our lives.
